It was discovered in China
The early works regarding the use of electronic devices as a way of delivering nicotine to the human organism began as early as the 1920s. Unfortunately, with not much luck. We had to wait many more years for a successful invention, but it finally happened. The father of the modern e-cigarette is Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik who developed the prototype in 2003. His goal? To create a device that offers a much healthier way to deliver nicotine than traditional cigarettes. It took just a few years for vaping devices to gain popularity around the whole world.
Many people use it to quit smoking
Just as Hon Lik wanted, many smokers use vaping as a way of reducing their cigarette intake and even quit smoking altogether. Why is it so helpful? Because users can control the nicotine levels they consume and slowly phase out this substance without going cold turkey. If they used to smoke a lot, they can start with e-juices with higher levels such as Salt Nics and then come down to 18, 12, 6, 3, and finally 0 mg of nicotine. It’s much more manageable, and it doesn’t cause a shock to the organism that’s so used to the regular consumption of nicotine.
There are different types of e-liquids
What do i need to know about vaping? While you browse through vape shops online, you may have noticed that in the e-liquid category, there is something called Salt Nics. It’s not a typo! There are two types of vape juices – freebase nicotine ones and Salt Nics we just mentioned. What is the difference between them? The first variety offers low to medium concentrations of nicotine and means that this substance is absorbed by the body at a much slower pace. Usually, in these products, we can find 3, 6, or 12 mg of nicotine. Nic Salts, on the other hand, come with much higher nicotine strengths, such as 24 or even 48 mg. They also provide much quicker penetration than freebase e-juices. Absorption lasts around 6 or 7 seconds and is very similar to the rate in traditional cigarettes. It’s no wonder that ex-smokers prefer Salt Nics over other e-liquids.

All vape juices have the same ingredients
With so many available flavors of vape juices, not many people realize that usually, these products have almost identical ingredients. E-liquids contain propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) in different proportions, sweeteners, natural and/or artificial flavors, and nicotine. Of course, some products will have different ratios of VG and PG or varying levels of nicotine, but overall they are very similar.
And devices have similar parts
Pod mods, box mods, starter kits – there are various models of devices available for vapers, and at first glance, they may seem like completely different products, but they have similar parts which still perform the same tasks. So what will we find on most vape mods?
- Device – The casing holds all the vital components of the device and protects them from external factors. It also helps to transfer the power from the battery to the atomizer.
- Battery – Battery is used to provide the power necessary for the whole system to work. Some vape pens have built-in batteries you can recharge with a USB-C port, and others are equipped with replaceable versions that you can just take out and exchange when it’s needed.
- Atomizer – In this part, you will find coils and wick, two elements that are essential for turning e-juice into vapor.
- Wick – It assists in delivering the vape juice to the coils.
- Coils – Coils are nothing else than pieces of resistance wire which look like a spring. Thanks to the power from the battery, they warm up and heat the e-liquid in the atomizer. Because of the high temperature, vape juice transforms into vapor. Coils can have different levels of resistance, and this process can have varying rates.
