What is e-liquid flavoring?

First thing first, what even is e-liquid flavoring? Well, we know that pre-made e-liquids are manufactured in labs and consist of four primary ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, flavorings, and nicotine. However, if you want to create your own vape juice, you have to add all of those ingredients yourself. So flavoring is simply a concentrate that aims to replicate the taste of specific food or a drink. These products can be made from natural and/or artificial flavoring and have various levels of complexity. Some types of flavoring represent only one ingredient, such as apple, pear, strawberry, tobacco, and so on. Meanwhile, others may recreate the taste of much more elaborate foods and drinks, such as Banana Pudding, Peanut Butter, Raspberry Cotton Candy, Sour Apple Bubble Gum, and many more. It is important to note that the flavoring you can add to your vape juices is food grade, which means it is safe to consume, and it is the same type of product that is added to various foods.

Where to buy flavoring for e-liquid?

What about our main question? Where to buy e-liquid flavoring? Of course, you will find them at good vape stores, both online and offline. What is crucial, those stores should have all the other products that you will need for your mixing, so be sure to stock up on all the necessary DIY components before you start creating your own vape juices. You can also purchase concentrates on the websites of the flavor companies that specialize in their production.

Watch out for percentages

While you’re shopping, it is essential to remember that various concentrates will have different potency, and even the same type of flavor may vary quite a lot between several brands. For example, if you are looking for apple extract, one manufacturer can design a much more potent formula, and the other one can produce a little bit of diluted flavoring. This element will affect your recipe, so it is always best to follow the recommendations of the manufacturer, and when you finally get used to mixing, you may experiment a little bit. Depending on your preferences, you can add as low as 5% of concentrate or go even up to 18% of flavoring.

What else do you need to make your own e-juice?

Of course, flavorings of your choice are only one of several fundamental ingredients that you will need to make your own vape juice. What are the other essentials?

Base liquid

As the name suggests, this product will act as a base for your mix and dilute other, more potent ingredients such as nicotine or flavor extracts. The base will consist of a mixture of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycol (VG). Of course, you may choose various proportions of those two ingredients, which will influence the performance of the vape juice. You can reach for pre-made products, which already have a set ratio, and usually come in mixes of 50/50, 70/30, or 30/70. The dominance of PG will give you a better throat hit but less vapor. On the other hand, VG is a much thicker liquid and will provide you with much more impressive cloud production and smoother hit. It is important to remember that vegetable glycol has a slightly sweet taste and can influence the overall taste of your mixture. Of course, you can also buy your own PG and VG and mix the base liquid by yourself, so your blend can be personalized even more. However, this is recommended only to experienced mixers.

Nicotine

Of course, you can use nicotine or skip this ingredient, depending on your current preferences. Try matching the strength to the number of cigarettes you used to smoke but begin with a lower level and move up if necessary. And remember that if you’re only starting your DIY journey, it’s best to go slow and stick to the available recipes you can find online. When you get better, you may experiment more and more both with the flavorings as well as the nicotine level and base liquid of your vape juice.
