Why is my vape leaking?

You reach into your bag to find your vape kit and enjoy some quiet and well-deserved break, but the moment your hand touches the e-cigarette, you feel some wetness. A second later, your nose is hit with the smell of your favorite e-liquid, and you know what happened – another leakage! Sounds familiar? Why is my vape leaking? Why is my vape leaking? Figure out what is leaking
Of course, the first key step should be figuring out exactly which part of the vape is responsible for the leaking. Usually, the culprit can be found in the airflow system of the device. Depending on the cause of the problem, you may see just a few stray drops of your e-liquid escaping or even the whole tank getting empty. But don’t worry, we can fix it!
How to stop leakages?
There are several tips you should bear in mind while you’re using your vape kit to prevent it from leaking. Let’s learn more about them!
- Fill the tank up correctly
One of the most important things to pay attention to is filling up your tank without spilling e-liquid into the chimney. The chimney is this small tube located right in the middle of the tank, and if you put there some vape juice accidentally, it will cause problems with gurgling or leaking. So if any stray drop hits the chimney, clean it up with some paper towels to avoid any malfunctions. Remember not to overfill as well. It’s best to always leave a little bit of free space at the top of the tank. - Check the state of O-rings
The second reason why your vape may be leaking is damaged or worn-out O-rings. Check their state by taking apart your device and looking at them closely. Damaged O-rings are not able to seal the air in, and they can cause leakage. If you notice they’ve seen better days, it may be a great time to replace them with newer versions. - Keep your tank standing upright
If you want to minimize any chances of leakage, make sure you’re leaving your vape in an upright position, especially for more prolonged periods. Why? Because if the device is lying on its side, the e-juice may start dripping through the airflow holes. So try to make a habit of always keeping your vape standing up when you’re not using it. - Make sure there’s no damage to the tank
Sometimes your vape may acquire some damages, such as cracked glass. It may look insignificant at first glance, but it can also have a pretty significant influence on the performance of the device and the chance of potential leakage. So check your vape for any unexpected flaws and fix them as soon as you can. If it’s a cracked glass, you can replace the tank at a moderately low cost.

- Try e-liquids with higher VG levels
As we already know, the base of every e-juice is made of a combination of Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG). Depending on the various ratios of these two ingredients, each vape juice will have different properties. Versions with higher levels of PG are thinner and can cause more leakages. So one of the ways you can stop that from happening is by reaching for VG-based e-liquids, which have more viscosity. These types of products are not drawn into the coil as quickly as PG juices and, as a result, can reduce the chances of leakages. - Check the coils
There’s always a possibility that you managed to buy some faulty coils, which don’t hold the e-liquid correctly. If that’s the case, simply replace them with new ones from a batch that comes from a different vendor. That way, you will minimize the risk of getting another flop. - Clean the tank regularly
It may be obvious, but regular maintenance of your vape kit is quite crucial. Clean the tank, so the e-liquid residue doesn’t have a chance to build up and cause any issues. Otherwise, the leftovers can compromise the air seal of the tank and lead to some leakages.
